Coterie Creates a Downtown Style for Spring

Coterie Downtown boutique Coterie prides itself on being a hangout spot, but when you walk in, you should prepare to be styled whether you intend to shop or not. On a recent visit in search of springtime fashion tips, the Coterie crew created a his-and-her downtown look before my eyes in a matter of minutes. (Also, they helped style my outfit for the Postal Service concert, which, I might add, was rather killer.)

“Flowing silks and forgiving knits offer an amazing feel, yet, still give a luxurious look for the season,” says Coterie’s resident seamstress and stylist Nicole Daniel. “Bright colors, of course, are a must-have as we transition into summer.”

Ladies’ Look
The Jarlo dress ($125) comes from London and proclaims itself “for lovers, for dreamers.” Inspired by the city of Los Angeles, the Fifteen-Twenty blouse ($245) adds a splash of spring hue, while the JamesJeans jacket ($245) builds easy-to-remove layers. With the unpredictable nature of springtime Vegas weather, Skinnytees leggings ($42.50) can keep you warm and the large Isabella Fiore purse ($375) gives plenty of space for your everyday necessities. Jewelry by Lisa Freede (necklace $70, bracelets $55 each) completes the essential spring-fling getup.

Men’s Look
When it comes to 2013, think 50 shades of blue. The Scotch & Soda trousers ($109) are an ideal alternative to jeans, and the cardigan ($169) is rich in detail with its tie-dye subtleties. Cohesive Clothing, “set out to represent the modern urbanite,” is a seamless city-chic brand (shirt $70). The final touch comes from Gypsy05: the scarf ($72.50) perfects the label’s “relaxed, yet articulate” designs and completes the downtown men’s aesthetic.
