The Smashed Pig Opens Its Snout Friday

Sooie! Fremont Street gastropub The Smashed Pig will open for its first full dinner at 5:30 p.m. on November 20, and lunch at 11:30 a.m. November 21, at 509 Fremont Street, next door to the Griffin. Before working at Hachi in Red Rock Resort, the husband-and-wife team of Linda Rodriguez and Martin Swift both worked across the pond (Swift is English). So the couple is familiar with English gastropub fare, although the menu (see below) embraces a variety of other cuisines as well, “the kind of food we like to cook at home … not so pretentious, just simple, good food that everyone can enjoy,” Rondriguez said in August.

For those who are familiar with Hachi’s sushi rolls, the small cocktail menu is equally as creative with drinks such as the Down Town Pimms’s made with Pimm’s No. 1 Cup, Amador Bourbon, vanilla-ginger syrup, bitters and Fentimans Cherry Cola along with four other inventive cocktails at $12 each. In addition to cocktails, the 1,860-square-foot pub will offer a variety of beers as well. The 50-seater restaurant will also offer casual lunch service during the day. A grand opening date has yet to be announced, but why wait when you can just get smashed Friday night?
