Memorial Day Weekend Music Take Over

As we commemorate the fallen we can have a little fun this Memorial Day Weekend as music fills Downtown’s streets, bars and stages.

Mid mosh pit at a Flogging Molly concert, I was picked up off my feet and was carried around the crowd against my will. I can only hope to get the same experience this weekend during Punk Rock Bowling music festival. Music, bikers, mohawks, bowling, food and PBR tallboys have taken over the city for the three-day Las Vegas tradition. Festival headliners are FLAG, the Descendants and (you guessed it) Flogging Molly. Three-day passes are available for $120 and single-day passes are available for $45. Doors open at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 2 p.m. on Monday.

Gold Spike’s stacked list of DJs keeps the party going all weekend long. Friday night Mike Attack will be your Living Room DJ as Stoked! spins at the backyard. On Saturday, Paula Feva sets up inside with Josh Royce in back. That’s My Jam! with Shelco Garcia & Teenwolf are rounding out the Memorial Day Weekend with special guest Kid Funk on Sunday.

Fremont Street Experience’s Rock of Vegas summer concert series kicks off on Saturday with none other than Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and owner of Blackheart Records will grace the stage to perform hits like “Bad Reputation” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.” The show is free to the public and worth weathering the drunken crowd. Show starts at 9 p.m. on the 3rd Street Stage next to The D.
