Urban Lounge Fills a Gap for the LGBT Community

The Arts District continues to grow apace with Urban Lounge, an upscale bar catering to the LGBT black community in the mixed-use retail space Corner Building at 1201 S. Main Street. Manager Nakia Matthews says the black LGBT community is underserved in Las Vegas and the bar is filling a hole by creating a fun environment to hang out at on the weekends and after work.

The music played at the bar will mostly be hip-hop, neo-soul and R&B. The warm and comfortable interior of the 1,662-square-foot space will be decorated with red, orange and brown colors. A 27-foot-long bar is surrounded by the “living room” space filled with couches and intimate seating. The menu and cocktails are still being developed, but the plan is to offer traditional and specialty drinks, burgers and other American comfort foods.
