Anything can be made into a drinking game if you try hard enough and childhood scavenger hunts are no exception. A new event that is slated to launch the second week in January 2017, The Crusade Crawl takes participants on a booze-filled treasure hunt adventure throughout Downtown.
The game takes place at four stops throughout the Fremont Street Experience: Hennessey’s Tavern, Gold Diggers (pictured top) at Golden Nugget, Brass Lounge in Neonopolis and the Beer Garden at The Plaza. Players are tasked to find various items at each location in exchange for points. Some tasks are simple, such as finding a drink umbrella or take-out menu, while others will prove to be more challenging, such as obtaining a house drink recipe.
Along with a main list of clues at the beginning of the crawl, each group will get hints at each stop where they can spend up to 75 minutes and win swag along the way. At the end of the crawl, the three people with the highest points will be entered into a pot to win the grand prize—an open bar for two at Carlos ‘n Charlie’s in the Flamingo.
Co-creator Joshua Ifergan says the crawl will evolve over time. He is thinking about including the Slot-Zilla zip line at the beginning of the hunt before people get too buzzed. He is also considering having a hunt on First Friday, collaborating with the vendors there. Around 30 people can join each crawl.
Participants receive two-for-one drink specials as well as a free shot at each bar. Tours begin at $20 and are approximately four hours long. Start times are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thurs. through Sun.
