The Downtown’s Grand’s 24-hour dining option has been renovated into a honky-tonk diner where the food and music are chock-full of Americana. And to provide the chow, the resort has tapped Hell’s Kitchen Season 12 winner Scott Commings. He’s cooking up comfort food on steroids with dishes including chicken-fried bacon and a “toad in the well” of brioche, Black Forest ham, Vermont maple syrup and poached egg. Or stick to the basics, such as pot roast or jambalaya. And if you’re a late-night reveler or just someone who likes to sleep in, breakfast is available around the clock.
What makes this spot even cooler is the fact that it doubles as a music venue, with primarily guitar-centric artists playing sporadic sets from morning through late night. And while these are actual touring acts, the shows are provided lounge style, meaning there’s no cover or minimum. So you can enjoy the music with a meal, hang out at the bar and listen, or crowd the stage to shout out requests. Given the setup and small size of the place, the view is equally good throughout (except for the private dining room).
