Hair Metal

What does the art of a clean shave and fresh haircut and rock ‘n’ roll have in common? Nothing, if you ask the owner of the new Promenade at the Juhl barber shop, J.J., other than the fact he likes both.

Get a Haircut, a new shop opening on March 6 is decorated with J.J.’s (he prefers not to use his last name) personal collection of rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia such as a Kiss jacket he’s owned since he was 11, ‘80s posters and his personal favorite, a Paul Stanley guitar. “I’ve been a music fan my whole life,” he says. “A lot of this stuff goes back from when I was a kid.”GetAHaircut2

J.J. opened the first Get a Haircut in Southern California in 2004. He’s been a barber for over 17 years after a friend suggested he get into the business. After moving to Las Vegas three years ago, he found that the location inside the condos fits best to serve working professionals in the area. Plus, it has free parking on 4th Street between Garces and Bonneville Avenues.

Get a haircut offers your standard barbering, cuts and shaves. There are four stations available in the 1,000 or so-square-foot shop that J.J. will fill once he builds a clientele, but for now, it’s just him clipping and shaving to the soothing sounds of hair metal.

Haircuts $10, shaves $20. Walk-ins and cash only. Get a Haircut will be open Mon-Fri  9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. -5 p.m. and Sun 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Stop by the grand opening on March 6 at 5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Goodman and former Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo.
