Local Ink Slingers and Major League Baseball

Saturday:  The Writer’s Block hosts the Local Author Showcase, a monthly event highlighting self-published Las Vegas writers. Attendees can meet, greet, catch readings and get their books signed. This month’s authors are Paul Hughen (The Lucky Son), Victoria Kaer (Merlin’s Chosen: Rise of the Wyvern), Wendi Kelly and Deborah Dorchak (Bonds of Blood and Spirit: Loyalties), Andy Martello (The King of Casinos), and Linda Masanimptewa (True Ghost Experiences and The Other Unexplained). The event starts at 5 p.m.

Preparing for Stagecoach, a Coachella Valley country music festival, spotlight artist Nikki Lane is bringing her bluesy, country twang and Highway Queen tour to Beauty Bar at 8 p.m with country artists Robert Ellis and Jonathan Tyler. Be sure to watch her lucky “Jackpot” video, which was filmed in Downtown Las Vegas. Tickets $15-18.

The Scintas, a music and comedy variety show, will be entertaining crowds at the Plaza Hotel & Casino on various dates throughout April. Snag the dinner and a show package for $99 per person, which includes a three-course prix fixe dinner at Oscar’s Steakhouse and a VIP show ticket.

Sunday: Come for the savasana but stay for brunch at VegeNation featuring live music from Pablo Habitual. 10 a.m. The event is donation based.

Grab a beer, hotdog and Cracker Jacks as the 2016 World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs,  face off against the Cincinnati Reds for Big League Weekend at Cashman Field. The game starts at 1 p.m. General admission tickets $45.
