The Mad Craft Experience is a food and beer challenge that embraces the evolution of brew fests. As an extension of the annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer, the new component gives beer enthusiasts a way explore their love of suds other than sipping on one-ounce samples.
In its first year of production, Mad Craft, which takes place the day before the grand tasting on April 7, brings brewers and local chefs together to compete in a variety of beer and culinary challenges judged by industry leaders.
The beer challenges include best beer blend of two or more brews, best liquor-free beer cocktail, best one-off beer and best overall beer experiment. Culinary challenges include best beer-infused savory dish, best beer-infused sweet dish, best use of beer ingredients such as hops or barley, and most creative beer infusion. The attendees will be able to enjoy unlimited samples— until they run out— of the “science fair” creations made at the event.
“We will have in total over 30 beers and food participants,” says Brian Chapin, founder of Motley Brews. “This will be a high-energy, all-inclusive opening event.”
The Mad Craft Experience is on Friday 7-10 p.m. Tickets $80 at the gate. The Great Vegas Festival of Beer is on Saturday from 3-7 p.m. Tickets $40 at the gate. Due to a high wind advisory, both Mad Craft Experience and Great Vegas Festival of Beer have been moved to the Pavilions at World Market Center. Visit greatvegasbeer.com for more information.
