Makers and Finders Caters to the Late Night Crowd

Bars are usually the only places to go to Downtown in the evenings. For those who like to skip the bars, but want a place to decompress outside of the house—do not fret. Makers and Finders coffee shop (1120 S. Main St.) extended their hours in April to cater to the late night crowd. Owner Josh Molina says he wanted to give the community another option to enjoy live music, food and drinks.

“Late night coffee shop culture is something we want to encourage and promote. To have that late night cafe vibe is really unique [in Vegas],” he says.

With the extended hours came an expanded food and booze menu, too. Besides coffee and espresso drinks, Makers and Finders now offers a beer, wine and cocktail menu with items such as the lavender mimosa made with rose cava, lavender syrup and a maraschino cherry to complement their popular lavender latte, a hibiscus mimosa, and a Caipirinha among others.

For food, the vegan empanadas are the newest items to appear on the menu with varieties such as the roasted peppers with soyrizo and Grandma’s black beans and corn. There are chicken, steak and shrimp empanadas, too.

For entertainment, Molina is hoping Makers will become a place for Latin jazz music. They recently started hosting two open invites per week.  “Essentially, we are creating connections with local musicians, mainly brass [players and] percussionists, to tap into the Arts District musical pipeline and bring in musicians to play together in one place,” Molina says.

Makers and Finders may eventually extend the hours to an even later time, but for now Molina wants to see how things go. “It has to feel right and it actually really does. It all works well,” he says. “The entire atmosphere we provide at night is a really nice feeling and we encourage people to come and be a part of it.”

Makers and Finders is now open from 7 a.m. to  8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Brunch is now offered  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
