America’s Party, Escape Masquerade, MSTRKRFT: It’s Going Down in DTLV for NYE

It's like New Year's on the Strip ... but different. And there's no shortage of Insta-worthy moments

Fremont Street Experience

So you made a New Year’s resolution to give your liver a break in 2018? We’ve made that promise once—for 2017, in fact. But no one told us then that there would be so much to do Downtown on New Year’s Eve. So if you’re trying to pack in one last celebration before taking some time off, here are some of our recommendations.

America’s Party, Fremont Street Experience

Your best chance to get your New Year’s kiss on TV is at Downtown’s biggest celebration, America’s Party. Hosted again this year by Mayor Carolyn Goodman, the Fremont Street Experience bash will feature 12 bands, an EDM stage and a new Killers-themed Viva Vision video montage. 6 p.m., $35 ($45 day of),

There’s a fair amount of FOMO that goes on during New Year’s festivities, so at least Commonwealth gives you the option of hiking up to its outdoor patio for a look at what else is happening on Fremont Street. From up there you’ll probably even catch a glimpse of the Strip fireworks. Inside, Maxwell Fresh will provide the tunes for the evening, and there’s an open bar until 11 p.m. 6 p.m., $50,

The Grand Gatsby, Downtown Grand

Billed as the “most Instagrammable and free” New Year’s Eve bash in Downtown Las Vegas, Downtown Grand is bringing back the Roaring ’20s with a property-wide, Gatsby-themed weekend. DJ Christina Flame and Retro Jukebox will perform on December 31, and you can purchase tickets to the “Giggle Water Bar Crawl” that will get you four drinks and four appetizers at four of the Downtown Grand’s bars. 8 p.m., free ($40 bar crawl),

Escape Masquerade

Being Downtown, it’s easier to bounce back and forth between parties, and that’s exactly why Gold Spike is teaming with Fremont Street’s Inspire for a dual New Year’s celebration. One ticket gets you into both parties, and at Gold Spike you can groove to DJ Dilemma in the Living Room and Super Lemon in the Backyard. There’s also a premium select open bar until 11 p.m. 8 p.m., $13–$700,

Over at Inspire, DJ Absynt Mynded will be spinning on the rooftop bar, so you can enjoy drinks while sneaking a peek at the debauchery under the Fremont Street canopy. Did we mention there’s also a premium select open bar over here too?

MSTRKRFT at Bunkhouse

So you demand live music on New Year’s Eve? Look no further than The Bunkhouse Saloon, which answers the call with Canadian EDM duo Jesse F. Keeler and AI-P, collectively known as MSTRKRFT. Best of all, ticket prices won’t break the bank, leaving you with plenty of cash to get your drink on. 8 p.m., $25–$30,

Plaza Hotel & Casino

You have your choice of New Year’s Eve entertainment at Downtown’s Plaza Hotel & Casino. Larry Liso tickles the ivories for Oscar’s Steakhouse guests until a DJ takes over at 9 p.m. Meanwhile, the Scintas are putting on a New Year’s show at 8:30 p.m. in the Plaza showroom. At midnight, stop whatever you’re doing and check out the fireworks being launched from around the property.
