There is a new music festival coming to Downtown Las Vegas that’s rocking banjos, twang and a lavish shindig for acoustic-instrument lovers. Bender Jamboree is hosting its inaugural Americana music festival at the Plaza Hotel & Casino April 12 to 15, with games, activities and a celebration of contemporary bluegrass tunes.
The Bender Jamboree stages are welcoming bands such as Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, The Lil Smokies and Mandolin Orange, among others. Music won’t be the only highlight of this festival. Bender jammers can participate in a number of activities, such as a pickleball tournament, yoga, theme nights and concerts at the Plaza’s newly renovated rooftop pool stage.
Start planning your best themed outfits to fill your Instagram feed. On Thursday, April 12, show your Las Vegas (or wherever you may be from) pride for Hometown Throwdown night. On Friday, go crazy in beer goggles and your favorite draft brand’s clothing for Beer and Loathing night, and Saturday is Caturday Night Fever, so pull out your feline clothes to strut the catwalk. The final night is Sunday’s Pajamboree—tone down your wardrobe in jammies or go risqué in a nightie to keep the celebration going.
There’s also a butterfly release at the pool on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. to honor the life of Marice Maples Lindsey, who was a major contributor to the sister festival, the Big Blues Bender. One butterfly is to be released for each year of her life.
Bender Jamboree hotel packages are sold out, but locals are in luck: Four-day wristbands are still available for Nevada residents. The $399 package includes admission to all performances and activities on-site. Plaza Hotel & Casino, April 12–15, $399, benderjamboree.com
